Runners for the Half-Marathon approach the starting line, on Sonoma Road in front of the Bethel Middle School Gym. Unfortunately, the floods of 2004 had taken out a crucial bridge on 276, the Overflow Bridge", and was diverting a lot of traffic onto Sonoma. Runners bunched up to one side waiting for the signal to start - moved into the road and the race was on.

5k and Half-Marathon runners gather to listen to Chuck Francis, The Race Director, gives us a quick pre-race brief of do's and don'ts. One of the "don'ts" - do not go through the finish line twice. One of the "do's" - do wear your bib# in front. And so forth.

Our Race Director was able to help loosen us up with laughter. The Half-Marathoners with a couple of hours of running before them, needed all the help available. Thank goodness for Chuck!

Our Half-Marathoners were happy campers, as they munched down on some great potato soup. Not many races serve up warm soup as post race carbs. Ours does, and we hope to continue doing so in the future. Many thanks to our soup chef - Jan Fishback.
